Collection: Diane Levar

Diane Levar has been painting ever since she tagged along as a child with her artist father to watercolor the landscapes and old barns near their cabin.  There, she nurtured her own artistic skills and realized how passionate she was about art.

She went on to receive a BS/BA in Art Education from the University of Minnesota—Duluth, as well as a Masters of Art in Education from Hamline College in St. Paul, MN. She would teach art at Greenway High School for the next forty years, often bringing in her own paintings for her students to practice critiquing.

Diane became accomplished in watercolor and later explored and mastered oil painting.  Her work reveals her love of her surroundings in northern Minnesota — capturing the effects of light and shadow and the play of warm and cool colors, as well as soft and hard edges.
